Last winter semester, I decided to try something out of my comfort zone and take a weightlifting class. At first, I was intimidated by the weightlifting equipment and the thought of lifting heavy weights, but I was motivated to improve my overall fitness and strength. I set small goals for myself, such as increasing my weights and reps each week, and I was able to accomplish them with practice and consistency. The encouragement from my classmates and the teacher helped me push through the challenging workouts. By the end of the semester, I had gained more confidence in my abilities and even exceeded my initial expectations for the class. I felt proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and accomplishing something I never thought I could.
I have always loved learning new languages. I find it fascinating to learn about different cultures and ways of communicating. When I learn a new language, I feel accomplished and motivated to continue practicing and improving. However, I often disengage in learning settings when it comes to math. Math has always been a subject that I struggled with, and I often feel overwhelmed and frustrated when trying to learn new concepts. In these situations, I tend to shut down and disengage, which only makes it more difficult to learn. I have found that having a patient and supportive teacher or tutor can make a big difference in my motivation and engagement in learning math.
