Finding Meaning in Change: Stories of Transformation and Hope

Change can be a difficult and challenging process, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Six years ago, I experienced a significant change of heart and mind that transformed the way I viewed religion and spirituality. At the time, I was practicing Buddhism and held a deep-seated belief that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was a cult. However, all that changed when I had the opportunity to meet with the missionaries and learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

As I listened to their teachings and began to understand who God was and his plan for me, my perspective started to shift. I found myself drawn to their message, and I began to accept their invitations to read the scriptures, attend church services, and pray more regularly. Over time, I realized that I had a deep desire to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and to become a member of the Church.

The process of adapting to this new belief system was not easy. I had to challenge many of the assumptions and beliefs that I had held for so long, and it took time to adjust to this new way of thinking. However, as I continued to immerse myself in the teachings of the Church and to develop my relationship with God, I found that my life became more meaningful and fulfilling than ever before.

Looking back on this experience, I can see how my schemas - my pre-existing ideas and beliefs - were challenged and ultimately changed by this process of adaptation. I had to re-evaluate my assumptions about religion and spirituality and embrace a new way of thinking about these important topics. Through this process, I grew and developed as a person, and I gained a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me.

As I continue on my spiritual journey, I know that there will be many more changes and adaptations to come. However, I am confident that the changes that have already taken place will last for a lifetime. I have gained a new perspective on life, and I am grateful for the ways in which this process of adaptation has transformed me as a person.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us in different ways. For me, it meant serving a mission during the pandemic, which required me to adapt to new social restrictions and spend more time indoors. I found myself navigating this new reality by turning to social media as a means of sharing the gospel with others. By doing so, I was able to help people learn about Jesus Christ and even got to witness some baptisms.

During this time, I realized the importance of our everyday actions, even those that take place online. Our social media interactions can serve as invitations for others to learn more about our beliefs and ultimately, to belong to our faith community. These difficult times have presented challenges, but they've also allowed us to connect with others in new and unique ways, to share our common humanity, and to offer hope to those in need.

I've learned that it's important to focus on the present moment and to look forward with hope, rather than yearning for the past. As I continue to navigate this new reality, I believe that the changes I've made to my schemas, particularly in terms of utilizing social media to share my faith, will continue to be important moving forward. The pandemic has forced us all to adapt and to find new ways of connecting with others, and I believe these changes will have lasting effects on how we interact with one another, even once the pandemic is over.

Your example of a change in perspective is really inspiring. Through the process of development, our understanding of the world will change. It was nice to hear about how your conceptions of Latter-Day-Saints developed.
